About Robert Aust

Biography

Robert Aust started his pianistic career with an award at the German Music Competition in 2012, where he was able to convince both with his soloistic as well as chamber music playing. In 2009, he was also a prize winner at the international chamber music competition in Val Tidone (Italy).

Robert Aust has established himself as a sought-after soloist, chamber music partner and Lied accompanist, performing in renowned concert halls around the world. Thus he also regularly undertakes concert tours to Latin America and performed in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Haiti. Further concerts brought him to North Africa, the Middle East, Southeast Asia as well as to numerous countries in Europe. Radio recordings and concert broadcasts by the most important german as well as several mexican broadcasters document many of his concerts. CD recordings on the GENUIN label also complement his musical work.

As a soloist with orchestra he performed with the Orquesta Nacional de El Salvador, the Orquesta Sinfónica UANL México, the Orquesta Filharmónica de Guayaquil Ecuador, the symphony orchestras in Cusco and Arequipa (Peru), the North German Philharmonic and the Vorpommern Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2024 he will play further piano concerts with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Lima and with the Philarmonic Society of Tanzania.

Collaborating with local musicians and composers as well as teaching at foreign universities is a great passion of the pianist. He recently gave master classes for piano and chamber music at universities such as the Universidad de Costa Rica, the Universidad de Panama, the Centro National de Artes de El Salvador, the Universidad EAFIT in Colombia and the Conservatorio de Quito. In 2022 he also worked as a guest lecturer at the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León in Monterrey, Mexico, in 2023 as a guest lecturer at the Universidad Panamericana in Mexico-City. Since 2024 he has been musical director of the Mexican-American Manuel Ponce Foundation, with which he co-founded the first major festival dedicated to the Mexican composer Manuel Ponce, which will take place in Mexico City in 2024.

Robert Aust studied at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media with Prof. Heidi Köhler and at the Rostock University of Music and Theater with Prof. Matthias Kirschnereit. He also received important musical impulses from master classes by Prof. Karl-Heinz Kämmerling, Prof. Klaus Hellwig, Prof. Pavel Gililov, Prof. Bernd Goetzke, Prof. Einar Steen-Nökleberg and Prof. Matti Raekallio.

Since 2020 he is working at the Robert Schumann University of Music in Düsseldorf, Germany.
